PASIN TO HOST COMMUNITY FORUM ON ELECTRANET NTX PROJECT
Federal Member for Barker, Tony Pasin, will host a community forum this Friday to provide northern Barossa residents and landholders with an opportunity to hear more about the proposed ElectraNet NTX transmission project and its potential impacts on the region.
Mr Pasin said many residents were only now becoming aware of the scale of the proposal, which could see major electrical transmission infrastructure constructed across private properties and productive farming land throughout parts of the northern Barossa.
“ElectraNet documents indicate the project could involve transmission towers up to 75 metres high, with easements between 60 and 100 metres wide running across farming land and private properties,” Mr Pasin said.
“There is growing concern in the community about what this proposal could mean for landholders, farming operations, local landscapes and the long-term character of the region.”
Mr Pasin said local resident and community advocate Mary Morris had been closely following the issue and had played an important role in helping raise community awareness.
“I acknowledge the efforts of Mary Morris, who has been working hard to ensure local residents and landholders are informed about the proposal and its potential impacts,” he said.
“This forum is about ensuring the community has an opportunity to hear more about the project, ask questions and have their voices heard.”
