PASIN URGES PRIME MINISTER AND PREMIERS TO PROVIDE FURTHER REFLIEF AT THE BOWSER
Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP has called on state and territory governments to stop the squabbling and ensure the GST windfall created by surging fuel prices is returned to Australians.
“As fuel prices rise, so too does the GST take. State and Territory Governments should not be pocketing that windfall while Australians are paying more at the bowser. The clear expectation is that inflated GST revenues must be returned to households to provide cost-of-living relief,” he said.
Mr Pasin said the situation had been made worse by a lack of leadership from a Prime Minister who was forced into adopting the opposition’s position to cut fuel taxes and seems incapable of securing further relief via an agreement with State and Territory Governments.
Mr Pasin said the priority is clear. “Stop the infighting, stop the confusion and get the money back to Australians. This is about easing cost-of-living pressure on families and businesses now.
Australians need further relief at the bowser and they need it now,” Mr Pasin said.
