PREMIER MUST ASSURE BEDFORD JOBS IN MOUNT GAMBIER

Federal Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP has welcomed the news that a purchaser, namely The
Disability Trust, has been found for the Bedford Group following that organisation entering
administration in July this year and is seeking assurances that Bedford’s existing operational
facilities in Mount Gambier, including the existing plant and equipment, will be acquired by The
Disability Trust as part of that purchase.

“The continuity of the business enterprise at Attamurra Road is critical to the ongoing, meaningful
employment of staff at the Mount Gambier Bedford site.” Mr Pasin said.

“While some of the Mount Gambier land is surplus to requirements, and could reasonably be sold
to pay down debt, in order to maintain a meaningful connection to Mount Gambier and it’s
employees any, deal must retain existing operational plant, equipment and buildings, and must
include ongoing employment for Bedford’s Mount Gambier staff.” Mr Pasin said.

The Premier Peter Malinauskis must act immediately to ensure certainty for employees and their
families under any sale to new owners.

The sale of the operational elements of the Bedford facility and it’s associated plant and equipment
to pay down debt, including debt owed to the South Australian Government, would represent
another example of regional South Australians picking up the bill for those living in Adelaide and
surrounds
