Federal Member for Barker, Tony Pasin MP has joined the Mount Benson community to help the Robe RSL officially unveil the new commemorative bench seat to honour those who gave their lives for their country in World War 1.

$10,000 in funding received from the Federal Government’s Saluting Their Service Grants Program assisted the Robe RSL sub-branch to fund two commemorative bench seats in the region.

Mr Pasin joined the Robe RSL sub-branch and the Mount Benson community for a Remembrance Day service on Sunday to honour the seven men from Mount Benson who lost their lives in the Great War and unveil the bench seat to commemorate their lives and the sacrifice they made for the Nation.

Mr Pasin said he was proud to support the project and the Robe RSL because the organisation and its members contributed so much for the community and played an important role in remembering the fallen.

“I commend the Robe RSL Sub-branch who ensure the region continues to honour the service and sacrifice of our veterans. The seven men who never returned home to Mount Benson were Fathers, husbands, sons and friends who were immensely missed and mourned by the community.’

“We continue to give thanks for their valiant service in defence of our freedoms. They gave their lives so that we might live ours, and we are forever grateful,” Mr Pasin said.
