STATEMENT
Elections are always humbling experiences.
On Saturday night, I was incredibly grateful for being given the great privilege of serving another term as the Member for Barker and I will not take this opportunity for granted. I will continue to be Barker’s voice in Parliament and stand up for local communities without fear or favour as I have done now for over a decade.
While I am humbled and grateful to have been re-elected, it is a bitter-sweet victory as the national result for the Liberal Party has been so devastating.
As a Liberal team, we have lost some exceptional Members of Parliament, many of whom I am proud to call close friends as well as hardworking colleagues. None more so than Peter Dutton who has served as Opposition Leader with dignity, honesty, humility and integrity.
The best democracy is one with a strong alternative government ensuring decision makers are kept accountable. The Coalition must now re-group, re-set and form a strong and effective Opposition to ensure our nation is as strong and prosperous as it can be.
