STATEMENT

It has been a privilege to serve as a member of the Shadow Executive, initially as Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Transport but more recently as Shadow Minister for Roads and Road Safety.

I am proud of the Road Safety policy developed and put to the Australian people for consideration at the recent federal election including measures to improve government transparency and accountability regarding road funding decisions and a proposal to establish Australia’s first no fault Road Safety Investigation Scheme.

It was incredibly disappointing that Labor chose not to release a Road Safety policy during the election campaign and refused to match the Coalition’s commitment to make public the relevant safety ratings of roads scheduled for investment.

As part of the Coalition’s Infrastructure and Transport team since 2022, I have every faith that the Coalition will continue to highlight the importance of infrastructure investment and the challenges posed by our nation’s current Road Safety crisis.

As a member of the Opposition backbench I will continue to be a frank and fearless advocate for communities across Barker and as an experienced member of the Liberal and Coalition Party Rooms I look forward to pursuing important policy objectives consistent with true Liberal values.
