Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP has awarded the Christmas Wonderland Loxton a Federal Government Volunteer Grant worth $5,000 to purchase a 20-foot container to store the display.

The spectacular Christmas Wonderland is now in its 39th year. With twinkling displays and festive lights stretching over our whopping 400-meter walking track which truly shows Loxton Christmas spirit.

Mr Pasin said he was delighted to support the community as it comes together to celebrate Christmas and have a place to store the display when not in use.

“Our regional communities are under a lot of strain at the moment with the increasing cost of living, farmers in drought, losses from recent frost events and wine grape growers facing yet another tough vintage,” Mr Pasin said.

“There has never been a more important time for community to come together and connect through these tough times. The Christmas Wonderland Loxton is one place in which the entire Riverland community can come together to celebrate Christmas and connect with each other,” Mr Pasin said.

“This important community event wouldn’t be what it is without the volunteers who give their time and effort to organising and running the Christmas Wonderland in Loxton,” Mr Pasin said.

“The positive impact that volunteering has in communities like Loxton is undisputed, so it is an honour to recommend and assist organisations in receiving Federal Government Volunteer Grants,” Mr Pasin said.

Mr Pasin said that these grants, together with similar grants across Barker help to make volunteering easier for thousands of volunteers who selflessly give of their time to help others.

“Volunteering is at the heart of regional communities like those in Barker and I am proud to deliver small grants to volunteer organisations to support the crucial role that they play to ensure local communities like Loxton remain great places to live, work and raise a family,” Mr Pasin said.
