NSW BYPASS FAST TRACKED WHILE SA PUT IN THE SLOW LANE

The Federal Labor Government would have journeys around the Hunter in NSW made easier with the Muswellbrook Bypass while Adelaide streets are choked with trucks and the South Australian road network suffers as a result of Labor’s cancellation of the Truro Bypass.

Shadow Minister for Roads and Road Safety Tony Pasin MP says Labor’s decision to cut funding and cancel the Truro Bypass has put the productivity and safety of South Australia’s road network years behind.

“It’s disgraceful that heavy road freight is still being directed through the inner suburbs of Adelaide which now claims the title of the only capital city in the country to be a heavy vehicle thoroughfare,” Mr Pasin said.

“The former State and Federal Liberal Governments had a plan to get heavy vehicles off the main street of Truro and significantly reduce the volume needing to travel through suburban roads via the SE Freeway,”

“Labor cancelled that plan and as if to add insult to injury the Albanese Government now brings forward funding to see construction of the Muswellbrook Bypass in New South Wales commence.”

“Why are Labor so intent on keeping South Australia in the slow lane while they splash cash in Labor strongholds?” Mr Pasin said.

“By scrapping the Truro Bypass, Labor have set the Greater Adelaide Freight Route back, the South Australian High Productivity Network back and our State on go slow,”

We need to get South Australia’s road network back on track.
