PASIN ANNOUNCES VOLUNTEER GRANT FOR WAIKERIE RSL

The Waikerie RSL Sub Branch has received a funding boost courtesy of the Volunteer Grants Program, with Member for Barker, Tony Pasin MP, announcing a $1,700 grant to support the Sub Branch’s volunteers.

The funding will be used to purchase a Smart TV, enabling volunteers to attend online seminars and meetings, reducing travel time and costs. The new technology will also allow for digital displays of military history as part of the RSL’s museum exhibits, enhancing community engagement and education.

Mr Pasin commended the Waikerie RSL for its dedication to supporting veterans and the broader community.

“Volunteers like the ones at the Waikerie RSL are the backbone of our communities and this grant will help ensure the Waikerie RSL has the resources it needs to continue its important work. By investing in modern technology, the RSL is making it easier for volunteers to connect, learn and contribute, while also preserving and sharing the rich military history that is so important to our nation’s identity,” Mr Pasin said.

Waikerie RSL President Andrew Walker welcomed the funding, highlighting the benefits it will bring to the local community.

“We are thankful for Mr Pasin’s support in securing this grant. This equipment provides more modern facilities for our members and guests who use our hall for events such as training, birthdays, weddings and wakes,” Mr Walker said.

The funding is part of the broader 2023-2024 Volunteer Grants Program, which saw a total of $66,225 awarded to 21 organisations across the electorate of Barker. These grants support local community organisations by providing resources that enhance volunteer participation, encourage inclusion, and promote the invaluable role of volunteers.
