Pasin Congratulates Renmark Sporting Clubs on Major Grant Success
Two Renmark sporting organisations are celebrating after securing funding through the Australian Government’s Play Our Way program, which is designed to break down barriers for women and girls in sport.
The Renmark Netball Club has received $561,750 for the resurfacing of courts and installation of new lighting to support female participation. The Club has also secured an additional $5,000 Volunteers Grant to purchase essential training and game-day equipment such as netballs, bibs, hurdles, cones and umpire whistles.
Meanwhile, the Renmark Rowing Club has received $68,186 through the Play Our Way program, funding the purchase of new lighter-weight boats to ensure female members can better access and enjoy rowing. The new boats arrived in Renmark four weeks ago and were first raced in Adelaide last weekend.
Federal Member for Barker, Tony Pasin MP, congratulated both clubs on their successful applications.
“Sport is the lifeblood of our communities and an important part of ensuring young people, particularly women and girls, can live healthy and active lives,” Mr Pasin said.
“These grants are about removing barriers and making sure local clubs have the facilities and equipment they need to welcome more players, more members and more volunteers.”
“I want to congratulate both the Renmark Netball Club and the Renmark Rowing Club for their commitment to encouraging female participation in sport. These projects will deliver long-lasting benefits for the clubs and for the wider Renmark community.”
Renmark Netball Club President, Rachael Stoeckel, said the support would make a huge difference.
“With so many junior teams, having new equipment and upgraded facilities means we can deliver a better experience for our players, coaches and umpires. It’s an investment that will help our club grow and thrive,” Ms Stoeckel said.
Renmark Rowing Club President, Tony Townsend, welcomed the funding. “The new boats are already making an impact. They’re lighter and easier for our female members to handle, and it means more people can take part in rowing at all levels. We’re excited about the future,” Mr Townsend said.
The Play Our Way grant program funds local initiatives and ideas to overcome barriers that women and girls face in participating in sport. It provides support for safe, inclusive, quality and sustainable facilities, equipment and initiatives to help women and girls remain involved in sport and physical activity for life.
