Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP has awarded the Australian Landscape Trust a grant of $4,500 to support volunteers at Calperum Station.
The Calperum Paddock Adoption Scheme sees volunteers conduct animal surveys and undertake feral animal control measures. Volunteers assume long-term responsibility for landscape management of paddocks, ranging in size from 6,000 to 60,000 hectares.
The grant funding will subsidise fuel costs and provide volunteers at Calperum with ID kits to enhance access, visibility and safety.
Mr Pasin said volunteering was an important part of Calperum Station.
“Calperum has several dedicated and highly valued volunteer groups who form the backbone of many programs on the property,” Mr Pasin said.
“This grant will support volunteers to continue their invaluable work, helping to protect and preserve the unique and ecology of the region, boosting the visitor economy and the diversification of the regional economy,” Mr Pasin said.
The Electorate of Barker received a total of $66,225 for 21 organisations as part of the 2023-2024 Volunteer Grants program, supporting not-for-profit community organisations with essential equipment, training, and resources to aid volunteers in their work.
