Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP took the opportunity at the Young Life Barossa’s annual fundraiser to announce Young Life Barossa is the recipient of a Federal Government Volunteer Grant worth $2,405 for volunteers to undertake first aid training.
The organisation is run by a dedicated group of local volunteers who offer compassionate and supportive mentorship for young people in the Barossa Valley.
“This grant, together with similar grants across Barker help to make volunteering easier for not-for-profit organisations to support their volunteers who selflessly give of their time to help others,” Mr Pasin said.
“Volunteers are the heart of regional communities, and I am proud to deliver this small financial contribution on behalf of the Commonwealth Government in support of the role that the organisation and its volunteers play within the Barossa community.” Mr Pasin said.
Young Life Barossa’s Area Director Sophie Wilksch said the organisation was incredibly grateful for the funds.
"There are so many costs for volunteers these days to meet our compliance requirements. It is wonderful to be able to provide first aid and mental health training to volunteers at no cost to them or to our organisation through this grant. We are really grateful for this support,” said Mrs Wilksch
